SRS Legal advises Finançor group on Emater deal
SRS Legal advised Grupo Finançor on its acquisition of Emater – Empresa Abastecedora de Mercearias Terceirense, a company operating in the food distribution sector in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

The deal represents a step in Grupo Finançor’s growth strategy in the Azores and reflects SRS Legal’s involvement in transactions in the retail and distribution sectors.
Founded nearly 60 years ago, Emater has an established presence on the islands of Terceira, São Jorge and Pico, operating four supermarkets under the Guarita brand alongside cash & carry units, and employing around 300 people. The integration of Emater is expected to strengthen Grupo Finançor’s operations and infrastructure in the region, supporting the expansion of the Pingo Doce and Recheio brands to additional islands in the Azores.
The transaction strengthens Grupo Finançor’s presence in food distribution in the Azores. SRS Legal’s advice on the M&A aspects of the deal was led by Alexandra Valente, partner and Head of the firm’s Corporate & Finance Department, with support from associates Andreia Rodrigues Lopes, Gonçalo Mimoso and Miguel Dantas Guerreiro.
