SRS Advogados’ José Luís Moreira da Silva elected ASAP board president

SRS Advogados partner José Luís Moreira da Silva (pictured) has elected the new president of the board of ASAP – the Association of Law Firms of Portugal.

Meanwhile, José Costa Pinto, Miguel Torres, Vieira Peres, Teresa Brito da Silva and José Luís Esquível, of the law firms Costa Pinto, Telles, Morais Leitão, Abreu, PLMJ and Esquível respectively have been appointed members of the ASAP board.

In addition, Pedro Raposo, Nuno Pena and Duarte Abecassis, of the law firms Raposo Sá Miranda, CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut and Cuatrecasas respectively, were elected to the supervisory board. Miranda & Associados’ Ana Pinelas Pinto, CCA Law’s Domingos Cruz and LeggiTeam’s João Carvalhinho were also elected to the supervisory board.

According to a statement, “the composition of the new corporate bodies reflects an adequate weighting between the larger and smaller firms, between Lisbon and Porto, and between national and foreign firms established in Portugal.”

It added: “The new management proposes to be an active voice in the defence of law firms before the political authorities and in the promotion of new technologies in the legal profession, in addition to contributing to a better understanding among the public of the role played by lawyers in law firms.”
