Squire Patton Boggs adds Tigran Piruzyan as senior counsel

Squire Patton Boggs strengthens its International Trade and Sanctions practice with the signing of Tigran Piruzyan, who joins the European team, led by José María Viñals, from the legal department of Técnicas Reunidas as senior counsel.

With more than 10 years of experience in the legal sector under his belt, Tigran has extensive experience in sanctions and export control. In recent years, and based on his professional experience in countries related to the former Soviet orbit, Tigran has focused his practice on the analysis of the different sanctions regimes against Russia and Belarus. He has also developed an extensive project advisory practice both in Russia and in CIS member countries.

Having been part of several teams both in Russia and Spain, Tigran has expertise in sanctions, investment protection and export control, making him a key asset for the ideation and implementation of European projects in the region.

He also has an extensive professional background in advising companies in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Among other projects, he has been involved in the review of bids and tenders; in the drafting of all types of contracts (including, among others, FEED, EPC, EPCm), as well as in the drafting and implementation of penalty protection clauses in contracts with clients and third parties of the companies.

Education

Tigran holds a law degree from the Russian University Moscow State Institute of International Relations (“MGIMO”) and a Master’s degree from the same university in “Legal Regulation of a Market Economy”. In addition, he has completed his LLM studies at Boston University, specializing in Banking & Finance.
