Simmons & Simmons grows by 7% to £615m
Simmons & Simmons closed its fiscal year, ending 30 April 2025, with record revenues of £615 million, representing a 7% increase over the previous year. The firm also reported profits of £215 million (up 6%) and a profit per equity partner (PEP) of £1.128 million, up 5% on last year’s figure.
Emily Monastiriotis, managing partner, emphasised that “the growth we have experienced in this last financial year reflects the success of both our highly effective sector strategy and our decision to make a series of strategic investments across the firm”.
Financial results and sector growth
With these results, the firm has accumulated growth of more than 50% in revenue and 70% in profits over the last five years, maintaining a sustained positive trend.
Among the factors explaining this performance, the firm points to the consolidation of its sector strategy, focused on asset and fund management, financial institutions, healthcare and life sciences, and technology, media and telecommunications. These sectors accounted for more than 80% of the firm’s total revenue, with growth of between 7% and 8%.
Simmons & Simmons also highlights the momentum of its international activity, with high-value cross-border mandates in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, several of which are worth over £1 billion.
International expansion and reinforcement in Spain
In the Middle East, the firm has strengthened its presence with the opening of a new office in Riyadh, led by Amer Al Amr, and plans to open another office in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) in the United Arab Emirates. This year also marked the 30th anniversary of the Dubai office.
Another key element has been the adoption of generative artificial intelligence tools, integrated at all levels of the firm. Simmons & Simmons has developed its own language model, Percy, which has improved the efficiency of its service delivery. The model has been recognised by Microsoft and implemented globally.
In Spain, the firm is celebrating 25 years of activity and has strengthened its team with the addition of Emma Morales as the new partner in charge of the arbitration department, and Luis Valdenebro, who will head the restructuring and insolvency area. Under the leadership of Eduardo Peñacoba, the Spanish office has been one of the fastest growing in relative terms within the global group.
Its managing partner in Spain, Eduardo Peñacoba, highlights that he ‘celebrates the firm’s good overall results and, in particular, those of the Spanish office, which has been the second fastest growing’.
In addition, Simmons & Simmons has announced that in 2030 it will move its headquarters from London to 25 Finsbury Circus, as part of its modernisation and expansion strategy.
