Santiago Villanueva joins Pérez-Llorca Mexico as partner

Pérez-Llorca has announced the appointment of Santiago Villanueva as a Partner in its Social Security practice at the Mexico City office, alongside two attorneys. This move marks a significant step in consolidating a specialized team in a crucial area for both national and multinational companies operating in Mexico.

With over 25 years of experience, Villanueva is a recognized leader in strategy and advocacy for matters related to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the National Workers’ Housing Fund Institute (INFONAVIT). Throughout his career, he has handled a wide range of issues, including contributions and collections, company classification, workplace risks, employee registration, audits, and the granting of economic benefits and housing loans, among others. Additionally, he has led major compliance and advisory initiatives for companies requiring specialized Social Security counsel.

Villanueva has been actively involved in various organizations, serving as the Coordinator of the Social Security Committee at the National Association of Business Lawyers (ANADE), as a member of the global employment law alliance Lus Laboris, and collaborating with the Centro Mexicano Pro Bono, among other institutions, foundations, and NGOs. Alongside his professional and pro bono work, he has also made a significant contribution to academia, having taught Social Security Law at La Salle University and Tax Procedural Law at the Technological University of Mexico.
