Rock ‘n’ Law 2022 will support Association of Ukrainians
This year’s edition of the main music festival of the legal sector in Portugal will take place on 30th September 2022 and has already selected the project to which the amount raised will revert. The Association of Ukrainians in Portugal (AUP), with its project “Integration Centre for Refugees (CIR)” was, among dozens of candidates, chosen by Rock ‘n’ Law to support this year’s edition. With almost 20 years of existence in Portugal, this association aims to defend the rights of Ukrainian citizens who emigrate to Portugal, helping them integrate into Portuguese society and improve their quality of life.
CIR is one of the association’s new projects, created especially to support citizens in what is the largest wave of emigration in the last 40 years. With the help of Rock ‘n’ Law, the project aims to strengthen support for various social problems, such as support for education, legal support, support for professional integration and food support. In addition, they will contribute to the creation of a Psychosocial Support Line that will forward requests for help quickly, especially at a time of great economic and emotional fragility of these citizens.
With this donation, the Rock ‘n’ Law organisation intends to impact around 3000 direct beneficiaries of the association and also 6000 indirect beneficiaries, such as families. It is expected that the psychosocial support line will receive 2500 contacts and that these people may be helped through the correct referral of refugees to specific projects of the association or other services and entities.
“Europe is currently experiencing an unexpected situation that has dramatically changed the lives of many Ukrainians. Due to the war, we are now witnessing one of the fastest displacements of refugees in history and the most serious humanitarian crisis since World War II. In this sense, we have decided that we are all called to help! Being an association with almost 20 years of existence, the organisation of Rock ‘n’ Law decided to join AUP’s mission and thus contribute to improve the conditions and the quality of life of all those who, at this time, see our country as a refuge for a new and better life,” explains Francisco Proença de Carvalho, the lawyer responsible for the organisation of Rock ‘n’ Law.
