Launch of Direito Mental association
Direito Mental, an association entirely dedicated to the promotion of mental health among the Portuguese legal community – lawyers, magistrates, jurists, law students, business support teams and their families, has officially been launched.
Direito Mental began its activity with a launch event, which took place in João Morais Leitão Auditorium, Rua Castilho 165, at 6pm on Thursday 26 May, with the following programme:
Introduction of Direito Mental by Martim Krupenski and Nuno Castelão;
“Psychosocial risks in the legal profession”
Luís Madeira, psychiatrist;
Round table “Mental health in the legal practice”
José Eduardo Martins, lawyer
Margarida Lima Rego, professor of law and vice-director of Nova School of Law
Sofia Leite Borges, lawyer
Rita Rendeiro, president of Direito Mental
Raquel Sampaio, member of Direito Mental’s board
Moderation: Teresa Espassandim, psychologist
As founding associates, Direito Mental already gathers 12 entities: Abreu Advogados, CMS, DLA Piper, Linklaters, Miranda & Associados, Morais Leitão, PLMJ, SLCM, SRS Advogados, Uría Menéndez, Proença de Carvalho, VdA and Farfetch.
According to Rita Rendeiro, president of the association, “in an especially restricted sector, subject to high tension and responsibility, Direito Mental provides a new approach of individual respect and balance”.
