PM launches new area, adds partner from Andersen

Pinsent Masons has appointed Miguel Nieto to lead its new Transport and Mobility practice in Spain

Miguel Nieto, a State Attorney on leave of absence, joins the firm from the Public and Regulatory area of the international firm Andersen. Initially, Miguel worked as a State Attorney in the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, intervening in matters of particular relevance such as the liberalisation of the air navigation system or the privatisation of AENA. Subsequently, he moved to the world of regional transport in Madrid as secretary-general of Metro de Madrid. From there, he went on to manage ADIF’s new business and international affairs as general manager of Corporate Business Development. This experience in different fields and areas of transport makes Miguel Nieto one of the leading experts in the transport sector in Spain.

With extensive knowledge and experience of the Transport and Mobility sector, Nieto’s appointment reinforces Pinsent Masons’ strategy to facilitate for its clients, and thus society as a whole, a just transition process towards more sustainable and digital transport and mobility model.

Miguel Nieto (pictured) commented: “I am very excited to join the Pinsent Masons family in Madrid. The firm is the perfect opportunity for me to contribute my knowledge on an international level and perhaps make a small contribution towards more sustainable, digital and people-centred mobility. This can be made possible by Pinsent Masons’ strategic vision and its strong capabilities in two areas in which it is a leader, Infrastructure and Technology. Having a comprehensive team in these areas, coupled with my experience after more than 20 years working in the Transport and Mobility industry, will allow us to understand the challenges our clients face on a daily basis and provide them with the best legal advice.”

Diego Lozano, Pinsent Masons Spain managing partner, commented: ” Miguel joins our team at a time of transformation of Transport and People Mobility as we know it, and together with him, we will best support our clients in adapting their businesses to the challenges that lie ahead.”
