PLMJ strengthens TMC area with a new partner

PLMJ has hired Hugo Monteiro Queirós as Technology, Mobility and Communications partner

PLMJ new partner has a 20-year career, mainly focused on Industrial Property, Intellectual Property and TMT. He is reinforcing the TMC area, a practice which is one of the main bets of the firm, led by partner Pedro Lomba and thus turned to have nine members. He joins from Baptista, Monteverde e Associados where he made partner in April.

Hugo Monteiro Queirós (pictured) changes Baptista, Monteverde & Associados for PLMJ. He finished his Law Degree in 2001 at the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade do Porto. Subsequently, he completed a Master´s degree in Private Legal Sciences at the same institution and a post-graduation degree in Arbitration at Universidade Nova de Lisboa Law School.

His careeer begun as trainee and lawyer at the firm of Pedro Sousa e Silva from 2001 to 2005, and as a lawyer at the Universidade do Porto from 2005 to 2011. Then he became an associate lawyer at CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut from 2011 to 2015, and after associate at ABBC – Azevedo Neves, Benjamim Mendes, Carvalho & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados from 2015 to May 2016. From 2016 till 2020 he was a partner at Baptista, Monteverde & Associados.

Hugo Monteiro Queirós lectured an Intellectual Property course unit as assistant professor at Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto in 2011. He is a Portuguese Industrial Property Agent since 2012 and a European Trade Mark and Design Attorney. He is a frequent speaker at universities and in national and international conferences and seminars.

He has been representing parties in Litigation and providing advice in legal matters such as patents, arbitration, trademarks, design, copyright, software, data protection and advertising.
