Pérez-Llorca expands its New York office with José Ignacio Rivero
Pérez-Llorca is set to expand its New York office in the coming months with the relocation of José Ignacio Rivero, currently a partner at the firm’s Mexico City office. This move marks a significant milestone in the legal landscape of the United States, as Pérez-Llorca becomes the first law firm to practice Mexican law with a robust team based in New York. Rivero will be joined by a group of Mexican lawyers, ensuring full capability to address the legal needs of the firm’s clients in both the U.S. and Mexico.
With a professional career spanning 20 years, including 11 years as a partner at Pérez-Llorca Mexico, José Ignacio Rivero specializes in Mergers and Acquisitions as well as Banking and Finance Law. Throughout his career, he has advised national and international companies on cross-border transactions, restructurings, and financings, establishing himself as a leading figure in the field. Beyond his professional endeavors, Rivero is the founder and president of the Dr. José Ignacio Rivero Cosme-Más Allá del Cáncer Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports underprivileged cancer patients.
Rivero’s incorporation into the New York office reinforces the efforts of partners Javier Gómez and Felipe Nazar, who have been leading a team of experts in Commercial Law and International Arbitration from this location.
Iván Delgado, International Executive Partner at Pérez-Llorca, commented: “José Ignacio’s move to New York strengthens our commitment to the Mexican market while also highlighting the international opportunities we offer to our professionals.”
Rivero’s presence in New York aligns with the increasing demand for specialized legal counsel in transactions between Mexico and the United States. This strategic move consolidates Pérez-Llorca as a key bridge for legal and business relations between the two countries.
