Pérez-Llorca appoints five new partners

Juan Oñate has joined Pérez Llorca Corporate team as a partner while Isabel Moya, Javier García Marrero, Alberto Ibort and Rafael Díaz have been promoted to new partners

Perez-Llorca has recently announced the appointment of five new partners for its Madrid office, bringing the total to 53.

According to the firm, Juan Oñate (pictured, second right) joins Pérez-Llorca’s Corporate team to strengthen the restructuring practice from a transactional point of view. Until his incorporation to the firm, Juan has developed his professional career in national and international firms where he has participated in the main debt restructuring processes in the market. He is a Law graduate from the Universitidad Complutense de Madrid and has more than 16 years of experience. He also holds a postgraduate Programme in Legal Practice from IE Business School and other in Bankruptcy Administration from the Fundación Derecho y Empresa (FIDE).

This appointment happens when Isabel Moya (centre), Javier García Marrero (first right), Alberto Ibort (second left) and Rafael Díaz (first left) have also been promoted to partners of the firm.

Isabel Moya joined Pérez-Llorca in 2009 and holds a degree in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She is an expert in Labour Law and Social Security and provides advice on all Labour areas. Isabel is also a professor at various Spanish institutions and gives lectures and seminars to students of the Executive MBA at Columbia.

Javier García Marrero, a judge on leave of absence, joined the Litigation and Arbitration Department of Pérez-Llorca in 2014 as counsel. He graduated from the University of La Laguna, and he is a judicial clerk since 1997. Two years later he joined the judicial career on a pro-bono basis. He has extensive experience in complex bankruptcy proceedings. He has also collaborated in numerous works on insolvency matters and is a professor at various programs in prestigious universities.

Alberto Ibort joined Pérez-Llorca in 2011. He holds a degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Law from Centro de Estudios Garrigues & Harvard Law School. He is an expert in Urban Planning and Environment. He is a regular lecturer in urban planning, administrative and environmental matters at leading institutions such as the CEU IAM Business School or the Real Estate Business School and has an extensive list of specialized publications.

Rafael Díaz started practicing law in Pérez-Llorca in 2010. From 2012 to 2014, he worked as legal counsel at Barclays Bank, providing commercial and regulatory advice in the areas of stock market and restructuring and refinancing. He rejoined Pérez-Llorca in March 2014, focusing his practice on corporate operations of public and private entities undergoing restructuring and refinancing.
