New Cuatrecasas practice targets €5bn equestrian sector

Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira has launched a new practice focused on the equestrian sector, which is valued at more than €5 billion in Spain.

The firm said the practice would cover all activities related to “horse riding as a major sporting event, which combines show and competition”. It said the newly created team –which will be headed by Francisco Cavero in Spain, and Diogo Ortigão in Portugal – will offer services to businesses, scientific and veterinary groups, horse riders, horse breeders, riding center owners, equine therapy centers and racetracks.

A firm statement said that, according to Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation, equestrian-related activities were worth around €5.3 billion, or 0.5 per cent of Spanish GDP, in 2013.

Among the services offered by the new practice will be tax, intellectual property, image rights, sponsorship, and “corporate and life sciences for sales transactions of show and race horses”.

In addition, the team will advise on financing, town planning and real estate for the development of sports centers.

Commenting on the launch of the new practice, Cavero said the equestrian sector offered “clear potential for business development”.
