Freshfields appoints new Spain managing partner

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed David Franco as managing partner for Spain.

Franco´s appointment will take effect from 1 May. He succeeds Iñaki Gabilondo, who has been in the role for the last five years.

Franco joined Freshfields in 2000 as an associate before becoming a partner in May 2007.

Franco is a corporate lawyer who specializes in domestic and cross-border M&A, takeovers, joint ventures and restructurings. A firm statement said Franco would combine his work as a corporate lawyer with his new management role.

Gabilondo will continue to lead the firm´s banking and finance practice in Spain.
