Mutualidad launches ESG Guide for Legal SMEs

Mutualidad, a non-profit insurance entity providing investment, pension, and savings solutions for legal and engineering professionals and their families, has launched the ESG Guide for Legal SMEs. Developed in collaboration with Valora Consultores, a consultancy specializing in sustainable transformation, this practical manual aims to facilitate the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into the daily operations of small and medium-sized law firms. The publication offers tools, practical examples, and regulatory references tailored to the legal sector, providing accessible solutions for incorporating sustainability into law firm management.

Despite the growing interest in sustainability, many legal SMEs acknowledge a lack of resources, specific knowledge, and methodologies adapted to their reality. According to the 2022 Wolters Kluwer Future-Ready Lawyer Report, 59% of law firms expect an increase in corporate clients’ demand for ESG-related legal advice in the coming years, yet only 20% consider themselves well-prepared to meet this demand.

Additionally, the guide features insights from three law firms of varying sizes and profiles—DLA Piper, Agaz, and CCS Abogados—who share real-world case studies on how they have tackled ESG challenges within their organizations and the tangible benefits of implementing ESG principles.
