Morais Leitão and Uría on TotalEnergies’ portfolio sale
Morais Leitão and Uría Menéndez advised on the transaction involving the sale of 50% of TotalEnergies’ renewables portfolio in Portugal, valued at a total of €178.5 million (with an enterprise value of €550 million). TotalEnergies Renewables is part of the TotalEnergies group, a multi-energy company with global operations in oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables, and electricity.
The portfolio includes solar and wind projects at various stages of development, with significant installed and projected capacity, making it one of the largest in the sector in Portugal. The deal entailed the structuring of a joint venture between TotalEnergies and a Japanese consortium composed of MM Capital Partners 2 , Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure, and Mizuho Leasing.
Morais Leitão advised TotalEnergies with a team led by partner Vítor Pereira das Neves, and included Maria Lobo Xavier (coordinating lawyer), Helder M. Mourato (coordinating lawyer), Dzhamil Oda (coordinating associate), Carolina Barrueca (senior associate), Carolina Ramos Dias (associate), and Maria Lobo Vilela (associate).
