This is, “with a view to uniting the efforts of both firms in providing legal services to their clients in the China axis, including the Special Administrative Region of Macau, Africa and Portugal,” according to a spokesperson from Miranda. The agreement provides for Lektou to join the Miranda Alliance, becoming its member for the People’s Republic of China, including Macau.

Lektou was initially established in the Macau Special Administrative Region, which has 35 years of legal practice. Over the years, Lektou has also expanded its reach to other areas of the People’s Republic of China, now having offices in Hengqin (Zhuhai) and Shenzhen.

As a member of the Miranda Alliance, Lektou joins a network of law firms and lawyers with a presence in 16 jurisdictions. This joint effort also reinforces both parties’ commitment to support investment projects integrating the Portuguese-speaking markets and China.

According to Diogo Xavier da Cunha (pictured), managing partner of Miranda, “It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Lektou to the Miranda Alliance. We believe that Lektou’s solid culture and its in-depth knowledge of local idiosyncrasies, will ensure the quality standards with which we serve our clients and envision new investment opportunities between Portugal, the African countries where we are present and China, including Macau naturally.”

Pedro Cortés, managing partner of Lektou, adds that: “The integration of Lektou in the Miranda Alliance reflects the recognition we have of this network – it is the alliance with the greatest presence and coverage in Portuguese-speaking countries and will allow us to contribute to the fulfillment of the role that the People’s Republic of China advocates for the Macau Special Administrative Region. We know that this partnership, which makes us very proud and responsible, will provide a privileged response to our clients’ requests for support in expanding into new markets, especially in Portuguese, where the Alliance is an international reference and will provide new synergies for each specific situation.”
