Linklaters and Allen & Overy advise on €770m Permira universities deal

A team of lawyers in Linklaters’ Madrid and Lisbon offices advised private equity fund Permira on the acquisition of five universities in Spain and Portugal from Laureate, which instructed Allen & Overy.

The deal was valued at €770 million.

The institutions included in the agreement are Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM), Universidad Europea de Valencia (UEV), Universidad Europea de Canarias (UEC), Universidade Europeia in Portugal, and Instituto Português de Administração de Marketing (IPAM) in Portugal.

The Linklaters team in Spain included partners Ben Crosse (pictured) and Javier García Pita, counsels Carmen Burgos, Roberto Sánchez and Adolfo Guerrero, managing associates Francisco Sainz-Trápaga and Belén Lavandera, and associates José Buigues, Samuel McLernon, Miguel Perez Magdaleno, Blanca Hernanz, and Raquel Blanco.
