Juan Pelegrí y Girón joins Garrido Commercial Law division

Garrido has reinforced its Commercial Law department with the addition of Juan Pelegrí y Girón as its new Of Counsel. With more than 40 years of professional experience, Pelegrí y Girón brings a distinguished career in both public and private sectors to the firm.

A Law graduate from the University of Deusto and a Business Administration graduate from ICADE, he furthered his academic training in the United States, completing Harvard University’s prestigious International Tax Program and earning an LL.M.

As a member of the State Attorney Corps, Pelegrí y Girón provided legal services to key institutions, including the State Secretariat for Finance and the Contentious-Administrative and Social Chambers of the Supreme Court.

However, the corporate legal sector has been the cornerstone of his career. He first worked at the International Trade Bank before joining Cemex, a multinational corporation, where he played a significant role in its global expansion alongside senior executives. For many years, he served as Legal Director for EMEA, overseeing all legal matters across 25 countries where the company had operations. Additionally, he was responsible for Cemex España S.A. as General Legal Director in his early years at the company, leading a team of up to 80 lawyers worldwide.

His remarkable career has earned him several prestigious honors, including the Distinguished Cross of the First Class of the Order of Saint Raymond of Peñafort, the Commendation of the Royal and American Order of Isabella the Catholic, and the Numbered Commendation of the Order of Civil Merit.

Beyond legal practice, his dedication to law and justice has led him to serve as Chairman of the Justice in the World Foundation under the International Association of Judges, where he was a trustee for over a decade. Since 1997, he has also been recognized as a “Corresponding Academic” by the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation.

After returning to private practice, Pelegrí y Girón joins Garrido to contribute his extensive knowledge and experience to one of the firm’s strategic departments, further strengthening its Commercial Law division.
