José Alberto Marín, reelected dean of the Notarial Association of Catalonia

The notaries of the Notarial Association of Catalonia have re-elected José Alberto Marín as the new dean for the next four years, his candidacy being the only one presented, an unprecedented event since 1989. He will take office on November 28th in a ceremony in which he will be accompanied by the rest of the members of the renewed Board of Directors of the Association.

The new Board of Directors is made up of José Alberto Marín Sánchez, Dean; Raquel Iglesias Pajares, who will act as Vice-Dean; Alejandro Sáez Ripoll, who will act as Secretary; and Albert Domingo Castellà, who will assume the position of Treasurer. Pablo Vázquez Moral will be the first censor; Marta Fuentes Blanco, second censor; Juan Galdón López, third censor; Pilar Martínez-Cortés Gimeno, fourth censor; and Rocío Ramírez López-Frías, fifth censor.

José Alberto Marín Sánchez (La Rioja, 1959) has a degree in Law from the University of Valencia and has been practicing as a notary since 1986. Throughout his career he has been notary in Les Borges Blanques, Monforte de Lemos (Galicia), Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Reus and, since 1995, in Barcelona. Prior to his first term as dean of the Notarial Association of Catalonia, which began in November 2020, he was vice-dean from 2009 to 2020. He is also a member of the Permanent Commission of the General Council of Notaries, as well as one of the highest representatives of the Technological Center of Notaries, and president of the Private Foundation and the Mediation Foundation of the Notarial Association of Catalonia.

For more than thirty years he has been a lecturer in the Department of Civil Law at the University of Barcelona; he is a civil and commercial mediator of the Center for Mediation and Notarial Conciliation, and a member of the Plenary of the Codification Commission of Catalonia, among others.

José Alberto Marín, dean of the Notarial Association of Catalonia, said that “I am grateful for the renewed confidence after the first term, in which we have strengthened and exploited the potential of the notary’s office to add value and create new services, in collaboration with the various administrations and the main institutions in the legal, economic and social spheres. With all this, we will continue to strengthen the technological field, which is fundamental to improve the essential preventive legal security that is the pillar of the notarial function, avoiding litigation and offering the best service to citizens.”
