Jones Day assists Urbaser in €265m waste-to-energy project in Maldives

Jones Day has helped Urbaser with a €265 million contract award for an energy recovery plant project in Maldives

Urbaser has been awarded a contract in the Maldives to design, build and operate the waste-to-energy plant in Thilafushi for a concession period of 15 years and a value of €265 million.

With this new contract, the company increases its international expansion, already operating in 25 countries, and its presence in the environmental services management sector, according to a press release.

This facility has a management capacity of 500 tonnes of waste per day, an electrical production of 13 MW, a slag recycling plant, a control system for the gases emitted and a landfill for the disposal of waste generated in the process.
