Isidoro Niola named DePuy Synthes legal director for Italy and Spain
Isidoro Niola has been appointed legal director of DePuy Synthes for Italy and Spain, effective 1 September 2026, taking responsibility for the legal strategy supporting the company’s orthopaedics business in both markets.
Niola announced his new role on LinkedIn, following more than 11 years with Johnson & Johnson MedTech, where he joined in February 2015 as senior legal counsel.
He was appointed legal director Italy of Johnson & Johnson Medical Italia in July 2020 and subsequently held a number of legal leadership roles within the group, including Mentor Franchise EMEA lead lawyer and country lawyer for Ethicon and DePuy Synthes.
The profile
Before moving in-house, Niola spent more than nine years at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he was part of the firm’s Antitrust, Competition and Trade practice. His work focused on competition law and regulatory matters, with particular experience in the energy sector.
He also completed a traineeship at Italy’s Competition and Market Authority (Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato).
