Inhousecommunity Day 2026: general counsel gather in Madrid

How are corporate legal departments responding to an increasingly complex risk landscape? What impact is artificial intelligence having on their relationship with external law firms? And are companies paying enough to attract and retain senior legal talent? These are the three questions at the centre of the eighth edition of Inhousecommunity Day, taking place today, 5 November, in Madrid.

Organised by LC Publishing Group through Iberian Lawyer, the event brings together general counsel and senior legal professionals from some of Spain’s leading companies at RocaJunyent’s Madrid offices, at Calle José Abascal 56. The law firm is also the event’s partner.

The programme opens at 9.30 am with a welcome address by Aldo Scaringella, CEO of LC Publishing Group, followed by Silvia López, partner, M&A Real Estate at RocaJunyent. The discussions are organised around three roundtables, each addressing a different aspect of the challenges facing corporate legal departments.

The new legal risk map: what is top of mind for general counsel today?

The first session, beginning at 9.45 am, focuses on the priorities of general counsel as businesses navigate an increasingly complex legal and regulatory environment. Taking part in the discussion are Virginia Beltramini, General Counsel and Secretary of the Board at Moeve; Jaime López de Villarreal, General Counsel & Secretary of the Board at Loewe; Ignacio Mendoza, Legal Director at HEINEKEN España; José Heraclio Peña, Director of Legal Affairs for CIB, Insurance, Real Estate, Restructuring and Privacy at Banco Santander España; and Ignacio Pereña Pinedo, General Counsel at ACS Group. The roundtable is moderated by Ilaria Iaquinta, Editor-in-Chief of Iberian Lawyer.

How AI will redefine the in-house–law firm relationship

Artificial intelligence takes centre stage in the second roundtable, at 11.30 am, which examines how the technology is changing the way in-house legal teams work with external advisers, from the organisation of legal services to the expectations placed on law firms. The discussion brings together Isabel Álvarez Calvo, Vice President Legal, Regional General Counsel South Central Europe & General Counsel Spain, Ethics & Compliance at Capgemini; Juan Manuel Caballero, Head of Legal Operations at Indra; María Echeverría-Torres, Head of Legal at Nokia; Pedro Marques Gaspar, Principal Counsel, AI and Privacy at Amadeus; and Beatriz Rodríguez Gómez, Partner and Head of Technology, Cyber and AI at RocaJunyent. Gonzalo De Sande, journalist at Iberian Lawyer and FinancecommunityES, moderates the session.

In-house legal compensation: are companies paying enough for top talent?

The final roundtable, scheduled for 12.45 pm, turns to remuneration and the competition for legal talent. The discussion examines whether corporate legal departments are offering sufficiently competitive compensation to attract and retain experienced professionals. The speakers are José María Balboa, General Legal & Compliance Counsel – Iberia & Latam at Inetum; Mariana García Fernández de Mesa, General Counsel Iberia at Accor; Carlos Menor, Legal Director and Compliance Officer at Groupe Renault España; Elisabet Rojano-Vendrell, Regional Head of Legal – Iberia & Latam at MENARINI Group; and Clara Cerdán Molina, Chief Legal Officer at FAMAR. The session is moderated by Glória Paiva, journalist at Iberian Lawyer.

The programme concludes at 2 pm with a networking lunch.
