HSF appoints both EMEA and Spain Corporate heads

Herbert Smith Freehills has appointed Alberto Frasquet as EMEA head of Corporate and Pablo García-Nieto to lead the practice in Spain

Frasquet (pictured left) will lead the practice in a priority region for the firm globally, while García-Nieto will continue to drive the practice in the Madrid office.

Alberto Frasquet, until now head of Corporate/M&A and Private Equity in Herbert Smith Freehills’ Spanish office, has been appointed head of the firm’s Corporate practice for the firm’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. From now on, partner Pablo García-Nieto will lead this area in Spain. Both lawyers have extensive experience in Mergers and Acquisitions and have been with the firm for more than a decade.

Frasquet joined Herbert Smith Freehills in 2009 and has been a partner since 2011. He has advised on a multitude of buyouts and mergers, both of listed and Private Equity companies, Corporate Restructuring, Capital Markets and Private Contracting. Throughout his career, he has specialised in advising investment banks, Private Equity funds and other financial investors, as well as multinational companies on a wide range of Corporate and Capital Markets transactions, in local and multi-jurisdictional matters, leading international teams in complex transactions. He is recognised by the most relevant international legal directories and teaches “Private equity” and “Cross-border M&A” in the Master in Legal Advice at IE Law School.

Alberto Frasquet replaces Moscow office partner Alexei Roudiak, who completes his three-year term as EMEA regional head of Corporate and joins Graeme Preston in Asia and Carolyn Pugsley and Stephen Wilkinson (joint global heads of Corporate) to drive the firm’s growth strategy in this area.

Pablo García-Nieto (pictured right) joined the international practice in 2009 and was named partner in 2015. He is an expert in Mergers and Acquisitions and, especially, in Private Equity transactions, acting for buyout funds and infrastructure funds in their investments, divestments, co-investments and joint ventures. His experience in the Corporate and Private Equity area is reflected in the main legal directories. He has also been ranked in the areas of Corporate and M&A Law and Private Equity Law.
