HL, KPMG advise Alantra on stake acquisition in Surexport

Hogan Lovells and KPMG have advised Alantra Private Equity Fund III on its entry into Surexport´s capital

Surexport has opened-up its shareholding to Alantra Private Equity to accelerate its growth plan and become the leading player in the European berry industry. The founding family will continue leading daily operations and executing the business plan.

Since its foundation in 1994 in Huelva (Spain), Surexport has been focused on supplying high-quality berries to key European retailers, mainly in the UK, Germany, Central Europe, the Benelux and Spain.

Surexport is today one of the largest independent berry producers in Europe, with a total turnover of approximately €190 million, that stands out for its comprehensive and highly differentiated product portfolio, with exclusive varieties in the four berry categories, long-lasting and solid commercial relationships with top European food retailers, complementary production facilities in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, and best-in-class logistics and packing facilities, especially the fully automated premises recently inaugurated in Huelva.

Advisors to Alantra Private Equity have been: Houlihan Lokey (M&A advisor), Hogan Lovells (Legal), Bain & Company (Commercial), KPMG (Financial, Tax, Labour and Legal Due Diligence) and ERM (Due Diligence ESG).

Hogan Lovells advised Alantra with a Madrid office Private Equity team led by partner Graciela Llaneza (pictured top left), and a Tax team led by partner Javier Gazulla (pictured top right).

KPMG also advised Alantra on Tax matters with a team led by partner Fernando Gomez Galicia (pictured middle left) along with senior manager Jacobo de la Guardia (pictured middle right).

Surexport was advised by Leal & Martín Economistas and Anaford Abogados (Legal). Anaford Abogados Valencia office team was led by Enrique Lucas de Leyva (pictured bottom left) and Fernando Antón de Salas (pictured bottom right), and included Tomás Andrés Costa Isabel, Marta Sanz Climent, Miriam Gimeno Casanova, Luis Sebastiá Rangel and Esther Mont Soria.
