Gómez-Acebo & Pombo partner tops ranking of M&A lawyers in Iberia
Gómez-Acebo & Pombo partner David Gonzalez Galvez has topped a new ranking of lawyers advising on M&A deals in Iberia.
The research, published by Mergermarket, ranked the top M&A lawyers by the number of Iberian deals they had advised on in the first half of 2017.
Gonzalez Galvez was ranked top having on advised on eight deals – with a total value of €510 million – during the period.
The Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier lawyers Henri Savoie, Jean-Baptiste de Martigny and Jean Michel Darrois were ranked joint second having advised on five deals each with a total value of €2.2 billion.
Meanwhile, King & Wood Mallesons partner Pablo Diaz was ranked fifth having been instructed on five deals with a total value of €1.6 billion.
Linklaters partner Jose Gimenez Garces was ranked sixth (four deals with a total value of €3.6 billion), Uría Menéndez partner Francisco Boluda was placed seventh (four deals with a total value of €757 million), while José Soria, also a partner at Uría Menéndez, was in eighth positon (four deals, total value €92 million).
Commenting on the current outlook for the Iberian M&A market, Gonzalez Galvez said: “There are still good opportunities in renewable energy, and the growing shift to green energy sources could lead to mergers among European utilities. The banking sector continues its period of consolidation while finally, foreign private equity and venture capitalists are keen to invest in Spanish tech and internet companies.”
