Garrigues Portugal hires new Tax area partner

Miguel Pimental leaves Morais Leitão and is hired by Garrigues Portugal to strengthen its Tax area

pjimage 21Garrigues has strengthened their Portuguese Tax team with the incorporation of Miguel Pimentel (pictured), who will assume the coordination of the Portuguese area of ​​International Taxation. Pimentel joins partners Pedro Miguel Braz, head of the department and coordinator of the Contentious-Tax area in the country, and Fernando Castro Silva, who is in charge of Tax Consulting, and the task of leading the team, with more than thirty professionals.

Miguel Pimentel, who returns to Garrigues after having worked at the firm between 2010 and 2012, focuses his activity on the Financial sector, working on financing transactions, Mergers and Acquisitions, Venture Capital and Private Equity, as well as product taxation. He holds a law degree from the University of Lisbon and an LL.M. in Tax Law from Georgetown University.

This new Garrigues partner has significant international experience. He has worked for several years in New York advising large financial entities, including banks and asset managers, in international operations. Previously, he collaborated with the State Tax Affairs Secretariat and was a member of the IRC Reform Commission in Portugal, where he participated in multiple legislative projects in the Tax area.
