EY Abogados hires Puy Abril as partner

EY Abogados has strengthened its labor and employment practice with the addition of Puy Abril as a new partner based in the firm’s Madrid office. The move is part of the growth strategy for the department, which is led by partner Silvia Bauzá.

The profile

With more than 15 years of professional experience, Abril specializes in labor relations, collective bargaining, corporate restructuring processes, diversity and equality matters, and complex judicial proceedings. Throughout her career, she has advised national and international companies, both public and private.

Abril joins the firm, led by Adolfo Zunzunegui, from Labormatters, where she spent the past five years. She previously worked at other national and international firms including Andersen and Ceca Magán Abogados.

Academic credentials

Abril holds a law degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a professional master’s degree in labor law advisory from CEF. She later earned a doctorate in labor and social security law from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, receiving a distinction for her doctoral thesis on collective dismissal. Alongside her legal practice, Abril maintains an active role in research and academic teaching.

Practice expansion

The hire follows the addition of Alejandro Gil to the labor practice in November, in the firm’s Barcelona office, led by Simeón García-Nieto.
