EY Abogados advises Orbital on acquisition of CEDES School
EY Abogados has advised UK-based Orbital Education on the acquisition of Lollapi, the company that owns CEDES, a private school in Albacete. Founded in 1932, CEDES serves around 1,000 students from elementary through high school.
Founded in 2008, Orbital Education operates international schools offering British, bilingual, and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula to over 8,500 students from 128 nationalities. The group’s schools consistently achieve results above global averages, enabling students to access top-tier universities worldwide.
EY Abogados provided comprehensive legal, tax, labor, and financial advisory services throughout the transaction. The multidisciplinary team was led by Susana Gómez Badiola (Corporate/M&A Partner), Ignacio Sevilla (Corporate/M&A Senior Manager), and Javier Merlos Palma (Corporate/M&A Manager), who oversaw legal matters at every stage of the deal.
Tax structuring and advice were provided by Elena Sánchez (Tax Partner) and Henar Ramos (Tax Senior Manager), while labor aspects were handled by Raúl García (Labor Partner) and Alicia Díaz (Labor Manager).
This transaction marks another step in Orbital Education’s strategic expansion in the education sector. With the addition of CEDES in Castilla-La Mancha, Orbital now operates thirteen schools across Spain, Mexico, Hungary, Slovenia, Albania, Qatar, China, and Ecuador.
