Eugenio Ribón wins jurist of the year award
The General Ordinary Assembly of the San Raimundo de Peñafort Association of Jurists and Legal Professionals has awarded its “Jurist of the Year” prize to Eugenio Ribón, Dean of the Madrid Bar Association (Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid, ICAM). The award recognizes his professional career and his work leading the Madrid bar.
According to the Association, the decision was unanimous. It followed an extensive deliberation in which attendees put forward several candidates from the legal profession and the judiciary. The debate took place in a respectful atmosphere and ended with the approval of Ribón’s candidacy.
The Assembly singled out his “solid professional career, his commitment to the defence of the legal profession and his promotion of initiatives aimed at strengthening the legal profession and the institutions that represent it”. It also valued the institutional action taken this year to preserve legal certainty, the right of defence and the proper balance of procedural guarantees.
The prize will be presented at an institutional event, the date of which will be announced later.
Profile
Eugenio Ribón Seisdedos (Cádiz, 1974) is Dean of ICAM, a practising lawyer and managing partner of Ribón Asociados. He has more than 25 years of professional experience, combining legal practice with academic, doctrinal and training work and institutional representation.
His output includes more than 35 legal publications, among them monographs, practical manuals, specialized studies and contributions to collective works. He has given hundreds of lectures and papers at national and international conferences, seminars and symposiums, and his training activity has reached more than 8,000 professionals.
In litigation, he has acted in judicial actions of particular relevance for the general and collective interests of consumers. He was also active in defending access to justice against the introduction of court fees, promoting legal initiatives against a regulation that sparked intense constitutional debate over the fundamental right to effective judicial protection.
Ribón is President of the Spanish Consumer Law Association (Asociación Española de Derecho de Consumo) and has held roles in bodies linked to consumer protection and consumer arbitration. He has served as an arbitrator at the National Consumer Arbitration Board, as a member of the General Council of the Consumer Arbitration System and as President of the Consumer Section of the Madrid Bar Association. Within the bar, he was third deputy of ICAM’s Governing Board from 2017 to 2022, before becoming Dean. He also chairs the Unión Interprofesional de la Comunidad de Madrid.
