Eduardo Peñacoba re-elected as country head of Simmons & Simmons in Madrid

Simmons & Simmons has announced the re-election of Eduardo Peñacoba as country head of its Madrid office, a position he has held since 2022.

Regarding his recent re-election, Peñacoba expressed that he feels “deeply grateful to the Spanish partners and the firm” for their trust in him. “In recent years, we have strengthened our position as a firm thanks to the tireless work of a committed team and the trust of our clients. Without a doubt, the future will bring new challenges and opportunities, and I am confident that we will face them successfully.”

A partner at the firm since 2013, Peñacoba has a solid track record of over two decades in employment law, having previously worked at prestigious firms such as Baker McKenzie, Garrigues, and Cuatrecasas. He currently leads Simmons & Simmons’ employment practice in Spain and is a member of the firm’s international employment law executive committee.

Throughout his career, he has advised a wide range of clients — from startups to large multinationals — across sectors such as technology, financial services, and, in particular, the pharmaceutical industry. His practice covers the full spectrum of employment law, including strategic negotiations, litigation before Spanish courts, executive management, employee benefits, collective bargaining, and corporate restructuring processes

Since taking over as head of the Madrid office in January 2022, Peñacoba “has played a key role in strengthening the team,” according to a firm statement, promoting the addition of leading professionals such as Francisco de León, Olivia Delagrange, Álvaro Barro, and Emma Morales.

“I take on this responsibility with the same commitment, enthusiasm, and sense of purpose that have guided us so far. It is a privilege to continue learning and leading this project, which means so much to me,” he concluded.
