DLA Piper takes part in the V Hotel Forum

DLA Piper and Horwath HTL have analyzed the labor implications of hotel remodeling at the V Hotel Forum held in Madrid

In this fifth edition, Paz de la Iglesia, Labor Law partner of DLA Piper and Marjorie Colas, Legal Director Accor Invest, have analyzed the labor implications of hotel remodeling and the process of negotiation and implementation of procedures for suspension of employment contracts (ERTE) required to close a hotel for renovation works. The session was moderated by Inés Chamarro, Of Counsel responsible for the Hospitality area of DLA Piper, and Philip Bacon, Senior Director, Head of Planning & Development and Valuation of Horwath HTL.

De la Iglesia (pictured), recalled the importance of following the legal procedure and building a case based on solid legal causes that justify the suspension of contracts. In this sense, Paz de la Iglesia has emphasized that “in procedures for the suspension of contracts for the remodeling of hotels, the economic and technical causes are usually the most important”. DLA Piper’s lawyer also insisted on the importance of the ERTE preparation phase in order to be able to anticipate the possible risks or requests that may arise during the negotiations as well as to define the measures that will be offered to the workers during the negotiations.
