DLA Piper advises Nazca Capital on the sale of Food Box

The global law firm, DLA Piper, has advised Nazca Capital Group on the sale of the FoodBox restaurant group to the BlueGem fund.

The company, FoodBox, owns Santagloria, Taberna del Volapié, Mas Q Menos and Papizza. At the end of 2021 it had 190 premises, of which 14 were directly operated and the rest franchised. Adding the sales of the franchises, the total turnover of the system at the end of 2021 was 80 million euros.

Since 2017, BlueGem, has been the majority shareholder of Lateral restaurants, which has 16 of its own restaurants in Spain and a turnover of close to 30 million before the pandemic. Nowadays, it has more than €900 million in assets.

By this deal, BlueGem will acquire FoodBox looking to boost the development of its restaurant activities in Spain. “We are very pleased with this transaction which will allow us to give a boost to our activities in Spain and we are confident that our expertise in the consumer sector will bring relevance and development to the FoodBox brands”, said BlueGem’s founder and managing Partner, Marco Capello.
