Dentons Europe & Central Asia partners agree on temporary pay cut

Europe & Central Asia Dentons partners and the leaders of regional business services have agreed to cut 15-20% of their monthly income

In a communication, the firm states that “as Spain is one of the hardest-hit markets in Europe, Dentons’ Madrid and Barcelona offices have taken steps to manage short-term cash outflows in relation to salary increases and bonus payments, although the plan is to return to normal as soon as possible. Both offices have also sought to increase their contribution to pro-bono programs during this period.”

These measures are included in their Europe and Central Asia strategy to minimize the impact of COVID-19. “Although Dentons Europe achieved strong double-digit growth in the first quarter, like all major international law firms, we must be cautious and apply appropriate management measures to mitigate the impact of the economic slowdown on our business. Our priority is to protect the jobs of our people while protecting our firm. As leaders of the firm, our partners in continental Europe and Central Asia and the regional business services leaders will give up 15-20% of their monthly income. We are also deferring discretionary spending.”

The firm highlights that “we believe that these actions are a prudent and responsible response to this unprecedented situation, and thanks to our solidarity, we will emerge from the crisis even stronger than before.”
