Cuatrecasas advises Total on EDP´s acquisition

Cuatrecasas has advised French group Total on the acquisition of Energías de Portugal (EDP)

As previously announced today by Iberian Lawyer, this purchase operation has transferred the two combined cycle groups in Castejón (Navarra) to Total, along with the B2C commercial business in Spain for a value of €515 million.

It is the largest operation in the Energy sector this year in Spain and one of the largest in Europe in the midst of a pandemic.

Cuatrecasas was Total´s legal adviser, with a Commercial team formed by M&A partner Mariano Ucar Innerarity (pictured), Public Law partner Luis Pérez de Ayala Becerril, Brussels office managing partner and Madrid office EU Competition law coordinator Andrew Ward and IP counsel Alejandro Negro Sala. The rest of the team advising on their respective matters included Litigation partner Alfredo Domínguez Ruiz-Huerta, Tax partner Antonio Barba de Alba and Labour partner Valentin García González.
