CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo has incorporated Joaquín Fernández Moya as a new partner in its Insurance and reinsurance department.
Fernández Moya specializes in insurance litigation and emerging Insurtech matters, with experience advising insurers, reinsurers and policyholders on high-value, complex disputes both in Spain and across multiple jurisdictions.
His practice covers a range of insurance coverage disputes in areas such as product liability, energy, construction and engineering, political risk insurance, pharmaceutical and biological claims, and professional liability, alongside emerging Insurtech matters involving digital distribution platforms and marketplaces, risk management and cybersecurity tools, process automation, and the use of artificial intelligence, big data and blockchain in claims handling.
He also has experience in crisis management and procedural advice in civil and criminal jurisdictions, as well as in mediation and arbitration processes, accompanying clients throughout the full conflict cycle, from prior coverage analysis and crisis management to procedural defense, enforcement of rulings and coordination of cross-border proceedings.

Throughout his career, Fernández Moya has represented domestic and international clients in complex judicial and extrajudicial proceedings, building experience in the strategic handling of international litigation and disputes. He has also worked on the adaptation and interpretation of foreign policies covering a variety of risks, including all-risk construction and installation policies, professional liability, product liability, and cyber insurance, among others.
Alongside his legal practice, Fernández Moya teaches Civil Liability at the Master’s Degree in Access to the Legal Profession at ICADE (Universidad Pontificia Comillas) and regularly participates as a lecturer in specialized training programs on civil liability and defective products organized by INESE, a training platform for the insurance sector in Spain.
