Clifford Chance and Herbert Smith Freehills instructed on Ufinet-Antin deal

Clifford Chance acted for telecommunications company Ufinet Spain on its acquisition by private equity firm Antin Infrastructure Partners.

Antin instructed Herbert Smith Freehills, according to Mergermarket.

Ufinet Spain is a wholesale fibre platform with a “nation-wide long-haul network”, said an Antin statement. Ufinet also acts as an internet provider.

Ufinet Spain was acquired from private equity firm Cinven – the deal will involve the separation of Ufinet Group into two separate companies, with Ufinet Spain acquired by Antin and the international operations of Ufinet acquired by the Sixth Cinven Fund.

Antin has raised €7.4 billion from more than 100 “blue-chip institutional investors” and has made investments in 18 companies to date.

Prior to the sale, Ufinet was owned by Pertento, which is a subsidiary of Cinven. Pertento was advised by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer on the deal. The Freshfields team included partners Armando Albarran and Javier Monzon, senior associate Isabel Villa, and associates Reka Palla, Asís Martín de Cabiedes, Lucía Quiroga, Pablo Pérez and Mónica Contreras.
