CGAE appoints José Antonio Perales as new technical secretary
The General Council of Spanish Lawyers has appointed José Antonio Perales as the new technical secretary replacing Pablo Zapatero
Perales (pictured) replaces Pablo Zapatero, who was recently appointed Secretary of State at the Spanish Ministry of Justice.
José Antonio Perales is from Almeria, holds a degree in Law from the University of Murcia and has been a State Attorney since 2002. His first assignment was in Barcelona at the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia.
He has spent a large part of his professional career as a State Attorney at the National High Court of Spain. Among others, he has participated, in the 11-M trial. He is specialized in Data Protection “Right to Oblivion”, Energy issues (Tariff Deficit), and in environmental matters.
Perales has held the positions of technical secretary general of the Ministry of Justice (2011-2012) as well as secretary of the National Energy Commission (CNE) between 2012 and 2013 and since 2017 he has been working as a State Attorney in Madrid.
In June 2011 he was awarded the Spanish Army white badge Cross of Military Merit and in July 2019 he was awarded the First Class Distinguished Cross of San Raimundo de Peñafort.
