Carlos Vérgez elected CNMC’s non-governmental adviser

Carlos Vérgez (pictured), Antitrust head partner at CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo, and EU Competition Law expert, has been included in the list of non-governmental advisers to participate in work and activities in support of the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC), within the framework of the International Competition Network (ICN)

The ICN is an international network that brings together more than 130 Competition authorities from around the world. Among others, the CNMC, the European Commission, the American Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) or the English Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) are members. It aims to promote convergence between Competition laws and policies and cooperation between Competition authorities, in order to improve efficiency and regulation at the international level.

ICN members work closely with a range of non-governmental advisers (private practitioners, academics, representatives of international professional organizations and industry and consumer groups), who are chosen on the basis of their expertise in Competition policy and their commitment to contribute actively to the work of the ICN. The CNMC selects its advisers to contribute alongside it on tasks such as the drafting and review of specific documents and participation in seminars and workshops.
