Carlos Blanco joins from Roca Junyent to strengthen Squire Patton Boggs’ transactional commercial and private equity practice in Madrid with a team of three lawyers comprising Javier Arenas, Elena Ferrer and Iñigo Oliván.

Teresa Zueco, managing partner at Squire Patton Boggs Spain, says: “Carlos is an excellent M&A and private equity lawyer, with an admirable track record and great reach. We have had the pleasure of working with him and his team on several transactions and, both professionally and personally, we consider them to be a wonderful addition to our global corporate practice. It is a pleasure and an honour to welcome all four of them to the Squire team”.

Blanco has more than 15 years of experience advising national and international clients in a wide variety of sectors, with particular emphasis on telecommunications, energy and technology and digital development. In particular in the telecommunications sector, he has advised on relevant transactions involving the sale and purchase of FTTH networks. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions (LBO, MBO, MBI), private equity and venture capital. Blanco joins Squire Patton Boggs from Roca Junyent, where he was head of the corporate department and its Madrid office, having previously worked at Uría Menendez, a law firm from which he left to set up his own firm, specialising in corporate advisory, with a particular focus on mid-market M&A and venture capital. Carlos Blanco is one of the most active lawyers in acquisitions according to the TTR ranking and is recognised in the area of mergers and acquisitions by the main legal directories.

Javier Arenas joins as a senior associate and Elena Ferrer and Iñigo Oliván join as associates in Squire Patton Boggs’ corporate department in Madrid. All three are corporate lawyers with experience in M&A, private equity and venture capital.

Carlos Blanco commented “it is a privilege to join one of the largest global law firms and a true reference in the field of M&A and private equity. We are very excited to be joining the Madrid office of Squire Patton Boggs where we look forward to continuing to drive its extraordinary growth under the leadership of Teresa Zueco”.
