BMA welcomes new talent in data protection and IP

Baptista, Monteverde & Associados (BMA) has announced the hiring of two new associates: Madalena Pacheco, who joins from RCF – Protecting Innovation, and Marisa Frade, who joins from Espanha & Associados (both pictured from right to left).

Pacheco, who will join the trademark team, has over 15 years of experience in industrial property, with expertise in IP strategic planning, prosecution, enforcement, and portfolio management. Before joining BMA, she worked at RCF – Protecting Innovation for 15 years. She holds a postgraduate degree in Intellectual Property Rights from the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa. Since 2022, she has been an official industrial property agent and an EUIPO professional representative. Additionally, she completed the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) DL-101 General Course on Intellectual Property in 2009. She is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), ACPI, and APDI.

Frade, on the other hand, brings expertise in data protection & privacy law, technology law, copyright, and advertising law. She earned her law degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Lisbon and completed the taught component of a Master’s in Business and Technology Law at NOVA University Lisbon. She is also a researcher at NOVA IPSI – Knowledge Centre on Intellectual Property and Sustainable Innovation, where she explores the intersection of emerging technologies and copyright law, contributing to events and publications. She started her career with an internship in investment consultancy at AGPC – Almeida Garrett, Pinto de Carvalho, followed by five years of legal practice at Espanha & Associados.
