Bird & Bird acts for Cellnex on Protelindo deal

Bird & Bird was instructed by Spain’s Cellnex Telecom on the acquisition of a 100 per cent stake in Protelindo Netherlands, a subsidiary of the Indonesian telecommunications towers group PT Sarana Menara Nusantara.

Protelindo was advised by Biesheuvel Jansen Advocaten on the transaction.

The deal – which was valued at €109 million, according to Mergermarket – involves the  integration of Protelindo’s 261 telecommunications sites into the Cellnex portfolio.

The 261 towers currently managed by Protelindo are located across the Netherlands. Eighty per cent of these sites are located in areas close to main road corridors, which adds to their appeal as a location for mobile operators’ equipment. The remaining 20 per cent are located in urban and rural areas.
