Ashurst promotes new partner in Madrid

International law firm Ashurst has appointed Irian Martinez as a partner in the Banking & Finance practice in Spain, among 14 promotions worldwide

International law firm Ashurst today announced the appointment of 14 new partners, including Irian Martinez in its Madrid office, effective May 1. This year, more than three quarters (78%) of the new partners are women. The new partners come from six different offices: five in London, three in Sydney, one in Melbourne, two in Hong Kong and Singapore and one in Spain.

Irian Martinez (pictured), joined Ashurst as a trainee and was until now counsel and head of Global Markets in Ashurst Spain’s Banking and Finance Law department. Her clients include international investment banks, investment funds and national banks. She specialises in Banking & Finance transactions, with particular expertise in Real Estate Finance, Syndicated Loans and derivatives and Capital Markets transactions, including Regulatory advice regarding the latter. She holds a degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

With this new appointment, the Ashurst Madrid office, which currently has more than 70 lawyers, will now have 16 partners.
