Afianza appoints Álvaro Martín as corporate legal director
Afianza has appointed Álvaro Martín as director of corporate legal affairs, bringing more than 20 years of experience in legal advisory, compliance and ESG.
In his new role, Martín will oversee Afianza’s legal matters, covering areas including corporate governance, compliance, data protection, anti-money laundering and artificial intelligence governance.
Martín joins Afianza from Amara NZero, the multinational energy and logistics group, where he spent more than two decades in a number of senior positions, including General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Data Protection Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer.
During his career at Amara NZero, he led the group’s corporate insurance programme, the certification as a green bond of a €270 million issuance under the Green Bond Principles, and the development of its global corporate governance and compliance framework, among other responsibilities.
Álvaro Martín’s profile
Martín holds a Law degree from the Autonomous University of Madrid and an Executive MBA from Nebrija Business School. He has also completed training in AI Governance at IE Law School and holds the Compliance and Ethics Professional certification from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE).
Alongside his professional career, Martín teaches at EAE Business School and has collaborated as a lecturer on the Master’s in Energy Business and Law at Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo and CEU University.
