AEDP Joins European Effort on Citizens’ Access Rights
The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) is participating in a coordinated European action led by the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) to assess the practical implementation of citizens’ right of access. This right allows individuals to know what data organizations hold about them and often serves as a gateway to exercising other data protection rights such as rectification or deletion.
The AEPD will analyze practices of various data controllers in both the public and private sectors to identify best practices and potential issues related to handling the right of access. The results will be shared among the supervisory authorities of the European Economic Area, and the EDPB will publish a final report on the conducted analysis. This action is the third initiative within the Coordinated Enforcement Framework (CEF), aiming to strengthen cooperation among data protection authorities in Europe.
