Abreu advises on Estrela da Amadora deal
Abreu Advogados advised a consortium led by ADvantage and LEAD, with the backing of KI Group, on the acquisition of Club Football Estrela SAD, the sports company behind Estrela da Amadora. The transaction involved the transfer of a majority stake in the club’s sports company.
The consortium includes investors from the sports, technology and financial sectors, together with football players such as Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, Yann Sommer and Lucas Hernández.
The acquisition provides Estrela da Amadora with resources for the reinforcement of the club’s structures. Abreu Advogados has previously advised on acquisitions and investments in sports companies including Estoril Praia, Rio Ave FC, Vitória Sport Clube, União de Leiria and CD Mafra.

The legal team was led by Mike Herbert, Lucinda Bayley and Oliver Levett of Northridge, with support from Arendt & Medernach on matters of Luxembourg law.
In Portugal, the transaction was led by Fernando Veiga Gomes, partner and coordinator of the sports law practice at Abreu Advogados, with support from Hugo Teixeira and Inês Cortez Eloi. The multijurisdictional transaction involved negotiations, due diligence and the structuring of a solution reflecting the interests of the parties involved.
