A&R, Uría counsel on socio-health portfolio deal in Spain

Araoz & Rueda has advised Orpea Group on the acquisition of Hestia Alliance (Bimpedi SL), represented by Uría Menéndez

Orpea has consolidated its rehabilitation and mental health business through the integration of 14 Hestia Alliance facilities.

Orpea Group is a French group whose parent company is listed on the stock exchange and one of the most important in the nursing home sector, on the acquisition of the hospital group Hestia, which is mainly active in social healthcare, mental health and residential sectors.

Hestia Alliance, founded in 1992, offers a wide range of post-operative care, palliative care, long-term care and mental health services in 14 facilities. Sixty per cent of these centres are located in Madrid and Barcelona, while 14% are in the Balearic Islands.

The Hestia network, one of the largest in the country with 2,131 beds, enjoys an excellent reputation for quality care and offers a strong complementarity with the ORPEA network in Spain. The management team will remain linked to the group, sharing its know-how and experience with Orpea in Spain.

Hestia had revenues of €70 million in 2020. This corporate move, therefore, significantly strengthens Orpea’s position in the aftercare, rehabilitation and mental health sectors in Spain and provides a new development platform for these activities, for which there is a growing need.
