Cuatrecasas advises on Seaya Nova launch

Cuatrecasas has advised Seaya, a European technology investment platform, on the launch of Seaya Nova, its new growth fund, which reached a first close of €600 million in six months.

The fund is backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF) through the European Tech Champions Initiative (ETCI), an EIB Group programme created to narrow the funding gap for European growth-stage technology companies. Other institutional investors, corporates and family offices have also committed capital.

Seaya Nova will invest between €20 million and €50 million per company, leading or co-leading Series B to D financing rounds in European technology businesses with proven business models, solid economics and global ambitions. The strategy draws on Seaya’s 13 years of experience supporting entrepreneurs from their earliest funding rounds, states Cuatrecasas.

Investment strategy

With the new vehicle, the manager will organise its activity around three complementary strategies. Seaya Ventures focuses on early-stage technology companies, Seaya Andromeda targets sustainability investments, and Seaya Nova is aimed at growth-stage businesses. Together, the three lines allow Seaya to support European technology companies from their first funding rounds through to international expansion.

The Cuatrecasas team that advised on the launch comprised Corporate partner Jorge Canta and Juan Manuel Navajas, together with Tax partner Paz Irazusta.
