Álvaro de Luis Andrés joins China SQICMC panel
Álvaro de Luis Andrés, partner and head of the Asian Desk at Net Craman Abogados, has been named a member of the international panel of mediators of the Shenzhen Qianhai International Commercial Mediation Center (SQICMC), an official Chinese institution specialising in the resolution of international commercial disputes.
Headquartered in Shenzhen, a financial, technological and logistics hub in China, the SQICMC is a commercial mediation body linked to the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cooperation Zone. Registered with the Shenzhen Civil Affairs Bureau and overseen by several public bodies in the city, the institution handles the extrajudicial resolution of domestic and international commercial disputes in areas including foreign trade, investment, financing, intellectual property, construction, real estate and maritime matters. Its model brings together professionals from different jurisdictions to facilitate the resolution of disputes between companies operating in different markets, positioning it as one of the mediation mechanisms promoted by China to reinforce legal certainty in international commercial relations.
The appointment comes amid increased economic activity between Spain, Latin America and China, as more companies establish commercial relationships, investment projects or strategic alliances with businesses in the Asian market, states the law firm.
Growing use of commercial mediation
According to the law firm, international commercial mediation has become an increasingly used alternative for resolving disputes arising from cross-border transactions, offering procedures that are faster, confidential and more efficient than judicial litigation or, in certain cases, arbitration.
