Cuatrecasas advises Bison Bank on crypto services
Cuatrecasas has advised Bison Bank on a corporate and regulatory process that resulted in the bank becoming the first entity in Portugal authorised to provide crypto-asset services. The advice covered both the merger by incorporation of subsidiary Bison Digital Assets into Bison Bank and the subsequent notification submitted to the Banco de Portugal.
Bison Bank, which specialises in investment banking, deposits and corporate advisory services, has added custody, exchange and advisory services in crypto-assets to its offering. Following the notification to the regulator, the bank no longer needs to rely on its former subsidiary, Bison Digital Assets, which was absorbed through the merger.
Cuatrecasas advised on the strategic structuring of the transaction and provided legal counsel on drafting and reviewing the policies and procedures required for submitting the notification request to the Banco de Portugal.
