Pragma Advogados adds Fernando Fontes to tax team
Pragma Advogados has expanded its tax law practice with the integration of Fernando Fontes as Of Counsel. The move brings to the firm a professional whose career spans more than four decades in tax law, combining private practice, public administration, and academic teaching.
Before dedicating himself exclusively to legal practice, Fontes spent over twenty years at the Tax and Customs Authority (Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira), primarily in the areas of tax litigation and tax investigation. That background provided him with an in-depth understanding of the workings of the fiscal administration and the decision-making processes affecting both individual taxpayers and businesses.
Since joining the bar in 2008, Fontes has focused his practice on tax litigation, advising individuals and companies on complex fiscal matters and disputes with the tax authorities.
The profile
Alongside his professional practice, Fontes maintains a strong connection to legal education. He teaches at the University of Minho, Católica Porto Business School, and the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), covering tax procedure, process, and litigation across undergraduate, master’s, and postgraduate programmes.
He holds a law degree from the University of Minho and a postgraduate qualification in taxation from IPCA.
